Dr. Mark Reed brings to Physician Led Healthcare Solutions a world-known, proven track record of creating sustainable Lean implementation within healthcare. Mark embraced the opportunity to become a lean Physician Leader while serving as Medical Director at Seattle Children’s Bellevue Clinic and Surgery Center. A highly engaged visionary leader, he played a prominent role in the implementation and growth of Seattle Children’s internationally recognized Lean Management System.
Mark has a passion for sharing his knowledge and experience in order to help healthcare organizations achieve greater success. He has provided Lean consultation and leader coaching to numerous healthcare organizations including Children’s Mercy of Kansas City, PeaceHealth healthcare network, Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, and Children’s Hospital of Michigan. Additionally, Mark serves as trip leader for Study trips to Japan where he combines his extensive experience and insight in Lean implementation with a deep understanding of the principles of Lean methodology and Kaizen to provide a uniquely relevant Japan experience.
Mark conveys a wealth of clinical wisdom to Lean healthcare transformation. His wide-ranging experience as a clinician and physician leader gives him unique insight into the critical role that physicians and other clinicians play in lean transformation. Mark utilizes this experience to address a broad range of needs with a primary focus on physician/leader engagement and Lean sustainability. He holds a B.S. and M.D. from the University of South Alabama as well as a Master’s in Management from Birmingham-Southern College. Mark is a seasoned educator, having transitioned to consulting from serving as a Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of Washington with prior teaching appointments the Georgetown University, Vanderbilt University, and the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.
